Driving again on California Highway 1 (sometimes called Pacific 1 or CA 101).  Here are a few of those pictures

We finally arrived at our destination:  Carmel and Monterey.  It had been a full day.  We stayed at a bed and breakfast right in the heart of Carmel.  Hofsas house is the name and it was very, very nice.

9/19/2010 - 9/20/2010

Our adventure began on Sunday, September 20, 2010.  We boarded AA from Austin to Palm Springs, CA.
Rented a car (with all kinds of mishaps but it turned out ok) and started driving toward the famous California 1 highway.  Here are some pictures taken along the way:

flying kites and wind surfers

beach along highway one

we estimated there were at least 2500 flags in remembrance of 9/11

The first night was spent at  a Naval Base (Ventura County) right on the Pacific. The next day continued on CA Hwy 1.  More beautiful scenery.  We came across the Elephant Seals:

Of course, there were many more pictures we took along the way.  Our next stop was at Solvang.  This is a Dutch community and here are some of those pictures.

Latest Mustang for the guys to drool over.

More architecture of this dutch community.

We stayed there one night and explored whatever there was to see and had some dinner.
Now we are running actually into the next few days which will have another heading.
